Brief Introduction to Mt.Everest
Mt.Everest stands for “Goddess” in Tibetan,the highest peak of the world,a arc mountain system looks like from east to west going,lying in the border of China-Nepal of middle section of Himalaya and direct south to Tingri county of Shigatse.In compiled “all round view of emperor” of Kangxi (Qing dynasty),1717 A.D,it is recorded as “Zhumulangmaalin” and pointed out the precise geology position.In 1858,Indian measure office entitled this mountain as Mt.Everest by using former office head’s name,S.G.Everest,under British’s emcee.Chinese government confirmed its name as Qomolangma in 1952.Mountain body is like a big pyramid,bearing large glacier,and the longest one is 26km.Rongbuk Monastery is at the foot of mountain.
Mt.Everest is the boundary mountain to China and Nepal and it is the youngest mountain systems of the world,aged 10,000,000 to 20,000,000.It is composed of lots of parallel mountains,from east to west is 2,450KM long and from south to north is 200-300KM wide,arc-like extending to the south.It is a complex young drape mountain system.The four mountain ranges,Mt.Caisike,Ladake,senior Himalaya,junior Himalaya and Xiwalike sit together from the north to the south.The senior Himalaya is the highest and steepest,about 50-90KM wide,mainly composed of crystallized rock.
It is traditionally divided into three sections: west away from Pulan in Nagri region to Indian Nanjiapaerbate mountain is West Himalaya,east away from Pulan Namunina Mountain to Yadong Zuomolali Mountain is Middle Himalaya, east away from Yadong to Brahmaputra Grand Canyon turn,Namjagbarwa Mountain,is East Himalaya.

Day 1 Lhasa-Tingri
Drive from Lhasa to Tingri county.Have a good rest after a nice meal and get fully preparation for next day’s hiking.
Day 2 Hiking tour
Tingri-Lulu frontier inspection station-the turn to the mountain road via No.318 national high way-the toll of entering Mt.Everest reserve-nameless camp.It is about 30KM,taking about 10 hours to walk.There are no villages between the toll and the nameless camp and it is low oxygen capacity and rough path.You need bring enough drinking water.
Day 3 Reach Zhaxizong
30KM from outdoor camp to Zhaxizong,10 hours walking.Ascending path before noon,very few oxygen,you will feel easy in the afternoon when walking on the descending path.It is expensive to buy things in the village on the way.You can have Sichuan dishes after arrival at Zhaxizong.
Day 4 Zhaxizong-Rongbuk Monastery
45KM from Zhaxizong to Rongbuk monastery,about 11 hours walk.Drinking water is available on the way.Restaurant and guest house are also available after arrival at Rongbuk monastery.You are suggested to have a good rest here for one day more and finish the last 8 KM walk in the sixth day.It is also possible to reach main camp of Mt.Everest in the fifth day if you are energetic enough.Every May to November,travelers and mountain-climbers collect to Rongbuk monastery from all over the world.Guesthouses then become overcrowded.You must book in advance the tour from PDT.
Day 5 Rongbuk Monastery-Mt.Everest Main Base Camp-Tingri (Zhangmu)
8KM between Rongbuk monastery and main camp,about 3 hours’ walk.Main camp is 5,200 meters above sea level.Taking photos and returning back Rongbuk monastery by the same road.Then take 4WD vehicle back to Tingri to have a good rest.Drive back to Lhasa the next day or go to Zhangmu,the border town,to continue your trip in Nepal.
